Dose of Aliveness
Therapy designed to help you move beyond anxiety, self-doubt, and stuck patterns—toward a personal prescription for deeper vitality, purpose, and meaning.
Justin Bogardus, LPCC, MA
Hi, I’m Justin
I’m an Rx Therapist — a licensed professional counselor candidate (LPCC), creative mentor, and meditation instructor with a background in mindfulness-based psychotherapy, somatic and parts work, narrative therapy, and substance use recovery.
My work helps people get unstuck — moving beyond anxiety, self-doubt, and repeating patterns to reconnect with their own vitality, creativity, and sense of meaning.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent two decades as an award-winning documentary filmmaker exploring human stories — how we grow, get lost, and find our way back. That lens shapes how I work today: I see therapy as a collaborative process of rewriting the narratives that hold us back and cultivating new ones that move us forward.
The “Rx” in Rx Therapy is a nod to a different kind of prescription — not one that comes in a bottle, but one that reconnects you to the sources of aliveness already within you. Through mindfulness, somatic awareness, and deeper self-understanding, we work together to uncover the unique “prescription” your life is asking for: tools for nervous system regulation, healthier relationships, creative expression, and lasting change from the inside out.

    What Is Rx Therapy?
First things first: Rx Therapy is not psychiatry.
I don’t prescribe medication — and I’m not opposed to it. Many people I know and work with have benefitted enormously from antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and other psychiatric treatments. These tools can be life-changing and, for some, absolutely essential.
Rx Therapy is something different — and deeply complementary. It’s about exploring the deeper patterns, beliefs, behaviors, and stories that shape how we experience life. Together, we work to understand not only the roots of anxiety, depression, or stuckness, but also the everyday habits and unconscious narratives that keep those struggles in place.
The “Rx” stands for prescription — but not in the pharmaceutical sense. It’s about discovering and reclaiming your own prescriptions for well-being — the practices, perspectives, and experiences that bring you back to aliveness, connection, and meaning.
For some, that might be NatureRx — reconnecting with the natural world as a source of regulation and perspective.
For others, it might be MovementRx — using the body and somatic awareness to restore balance and release what’s held.
Or MediationRx, DanceRx, ArtRx, or whatever “Rx” you want to discover and tailored to you — creative, relational, or contemplative “prescriptions” that help you feel more whole, grounded, and engaged.
In short, Rx Therapy helps you uncover the personal and practical “prescriptions” that already exist within and around you — not as a replacement for medical care, but as a living antidote to disconnection, burnout, and self-doubt. It’s a therapy of reconnection — to yourself, to others, and to life itself.

    You’re not broken. You’re stuck.
The Feeling of Stuckness
Maybe you feel trapped in loops of anxiety or self-criticism. Maybe relationships feel harder than they should. Or perhaps life just feels… flat — like you’re repeating the same patterns but never really moving forward.
The truth is, feeling stuck is not a flaw — it’s a signal. It’s your mind and body’s way of asking for change.
Clarity and change are possible
Therapy is more than symptom relief — it’s a path toward deeper freedom. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back and help you:
- Understand and shift the patterns that keep you stuck
- Regulate your nervous system and manage anxiety
- Strengthen your relationships and sense of connection
- Reconnect with creativity, purpose, and meaning
Holistic, mindful, pratical path forward
With training in contemplative psychotherapy and years of experience working with individuals, couples, and creative professionals, I integrate:
- Somatic therapy – reconnecting mind and body
- Mindfulness – cultivating awareness and presence
- Narrative therapy – rewriting the stories that shape your life
- Attachment & parts work – healing deeper emotional layers
This integrative approach helps you not just cope — but transform.
